Mr. Cake was original purchased from a yearling auction to be an eventual eventing pony for Kells' niece. However, the little lad quickly earned Kells' favour and has helped them get into driving. Both human and beast seem to enjoy the sport, and Cake always seems to perk up and get excited when he hears the telltale jingle of his harness. When Cake and Kells aren't driving around practicing for a show, the gelding can be found enjoying sunshine out in the pasture or occasionally being a lesson pony for some of the higher levels kids.

While Cake is a very trustworthy pony he can be rather stubborn, and has been known to buck and hop around when feeling fresh. He's very particular about doing only exactly what he's been asked in the manner in which he prefers making him one of the least favourite lesson ponies. A lot of his young riders either end their lessons with him feeling triumphant or frustrated. And rarely anything else.  His ground manners are fantastic and in his youth he won a few local halter shows. Most of the staff adore the little fellow, though he is a wonderful little escape artist which has caused quite a number of headaches. Whether it be cross ties, a gate, or a stall door, he does not like being left alone or tied for any length of time. Kells usually has someone watch the fellow while they go to the tackroom, as he never seems to want to escape when someone is watching.

Keeping him mostly in pastures or providing a large run from his stall has mostly stopped his escapades. He is happiest spending many long hours out in the sun, either snoozing, nibbling on grass, or playing with his closest horse friends. He simply does not do well stabled, and by extension, does not enjoy being trailered about. Transporting him requires at least one horse friend and plenty of hay to keep him distracted.

Kells' opinion of Cake seems to violently go back and forth between thinking he's literally the most perfect pony on the earth and feeling frustrated or overwhelmed about the beast's unsavory habits. Eventually they would like to find another Teddy Cob of a similar height and colouring for some pair driving, though for now they are quite happy with exploring the sport with only Mr. Cake.
