Quote from Lacey Collier, owner of Rendezvous Ranch -
"This little mare has gone through many homes before ending up with the ranch. She must have been through some shady experiences in the past, because she is very unfriendly with most people and is known to bite if you are not paying attention. Through a consistent routine and consistent handlers, she has calmed down quite a bit and opened up to those she trusts. Catra had to be taught to take treats from peoples hands. I can only guess her previous homes never offered her any.
When she first arrived she was what I would describe as truly wild. She tried to tear down the stall if anyone was near her and bit her fair share of ranch hands. She double barreled at us after we unloaded her from the trailer and I don't think her ears stood up for the first week.
But I didn't see a truly angry horse, I saw fear in her. Uncertainty in yet another new barn, with new horses and people. It took a lot of personal time and effort on everyones part to make her comfortable as she is now. And having plenty of Cob friends is really helping.
With how she's turning around, I believe she will be fine yet. And I thank our good friend for sending her our way."
This mare is BEST friends with another Teddy on the ranch; Melog for sure. At first it was Melog tagging along behind her while the spunky mare tried to push her away, but she won her over in the end and the pair are nearly inseperable!
