★ about billy: billy's owners were ecstatic to see the colt that hit the ground, chromed as all get-out with his four white feet and charming blaze. he was bound to be their next superstar stallion prospect, and he became more and more promising by the day as he matured into a polite, well-built little gentleman. the plan was to turn him out for a couple years before starting his career as a highly-anticipated teddy-eared stallion.
unfortunately, not all things go according to plan - as a coming three year old, right before he was due to begin training, billy sustained suspensory ligament injuries in both hind legs after a freak accident out in pasture. despite over a year of intense rehabiliation, it was clear to his owners that billy would never return to full soundness. sadly, his career was over before it had even began.
nowadays, he makes for a pretty dang cute pasture ornament. while his younger brother, the esteemed magic 8 ball, inherited his former destiny, billy remains a priceless asset on the property. he is a prime example of the saying "a good stallion makes a great gelding," as he now helps raise youngsters - both equine and human. he's the designated babysitter for each year's new weanlings, but he's just as good with children, who he reliably totes around at a leisurely walk. when he's feeling particularly frisky, billy partners with 8 ball as a driving pair, often chosen to be the barn ambassadors for tours of the property.
➸ discipline: certified pasture ornament
