"Bah, well, I guess that's that for us," Her uncle says dismissively with as much of a faux attitude as a politician.

After the lavender mare ran off, the two of them simply sat with that for a while, standing in the clearing, mulling over their thoughts and the what ifs and the millions of other potential possibilites that could have happened, but didn't. Her uncle even tried glaring at a bush to make another ... anything manifest, she guesses. Just anything that could take their minds off of the colossal failure.

Gosh, and it was her who scared that lavender mare off too. It was all her fault.

"Hey, we could have gotten kicked by her. At least that didn't happen!" She tried saying to break the silence, but her uncle simply looked at her and looked back. She knew he didn't blame her; if she was going to get spooked by such a small noise, there could have been an entire pleathora of things that could have gone wrong when they got actually closer to her. But, that did not really take the sting of it away from her.

That silence continued for such a long time, the sun, which was previously hidden in the clouds, yet perched up high enough to shine light, has went down. Their stupor was only broken by her uncle's words. Yet, as they trudged their way back to the truck, their minds still weren't truly off that mare. A once in a lifetime mare! Truly, a very special moment! A mare like that in the wild, now that just is unheard of.

Her thoughts loomed in her mind, creating such a thick fog that she didn't even realize they were already back at the truck. She really wasn't here right now, and her uncle can tell. With a pat on her shoulder, he does't say anything as he shuffles his way into the driver seat. She trudges slowly after him, every additional step weighing as heavy as it would trudging through a thick, goopy swamp or a solid 2 feet of snow.

A wonderful feature of their truck as well is that it takes ages for it to start up. So as her uncle started up the cognition, waiting for the engine to hum and vibrate their seats, another silence falls between the both of them. But, this time he extends the olive branch.

"At least we got to see her," he smiles at her. "And I'mm glad I got to see that mare with my favorite niece" It wasn't often her uncle ever voiced his affections out loud, so the reassurance that he was still there for her, despite her slip up, was just what she needed at that moment.

"Aw... Uncle... You don't have to say all of that" She melts into her seat, a little embarrassed honestly. They both weren't really the type to say all of this mushy gushy stuff.

"It's just so frustrating still" She adds quietly, as hushed as a whisper under her breath. She didn't want to ruin the moment, but it slipped out as easily as a salmon out of a bear's claws.

"I know, I know," he only replied. The truck was finally on, and they were able to go on their merry way home. At least she knew her bed was waiting for her back at home.

But, as they took the familiar road home, a splash of white caught her eye, moving in a blur alongside their truck.

"Hey, HEY, Uncle, do you see that? On the side of the road! Slow down a bit!" She frantically yells. It would be hilariously cruel if her eyes were deceiving her, but that just simply had to be a..

"A Teddy Cob! And a lavender girl as well! My goodness, look what we got here!" Her uncle says, peering out of the window. The truck was moving at a slow enough speed and the road was empty and straight enough that her uncle could afford to look away from the front of him a bit.

A mare, neighing happily, was running alongside their cruddy old truck! She toed the forest line and the road, never stepping fully onto where their truck was. She was a pale thing herself, almost as white as snow if it weren't for the distinctly purple undertone she took on; a sign of a lavender Teddy Cob as they were made so aware of today. Fate really must be looking down on the two of them to send another pony their way so quickly, a lavender too nonetheless!

"Should we pull over?" She implores.

Her uncle thinks for a moment.

"What if we just let her run alongside us. Seems like she's enjoying it. Always have to do what the pony wants"

"You know I know that already!"

"Never hurts to remind you"

They're going at a cool 20 miles an hour now, but both of them couldn't care less at this moment.

"We'll just let her follow us," her uncle adds, "If she comes back to the stables, she comes back. And if she doesn't-"

"We let her be," She completes his sentence

"Exactly," he says, a smile tugging on his lips.
