Pretty in Pink
It was a warm, sunny evening in the valley, a light breeze settling over the hills. The spring air was fresh and peppered with pollen and the sweet scent of nectar. Flower petals driftingon the wind.
The sky was partly cloudy and the sun's rays beamed yellow on the trodden dirt path that wound through the hills, barren strawberry and other small yellow and white plants dotting the edges.
It was the perfect day for a walk, I thought to myself. I had brought my picnic basket out for a lunch among the grasses, somewhere I could be undistrubed and at peace.
Continuing along my path, I noticed a horse standing at the top of one of the nearby hills, gazing curiously at me between grabbing bunches of grass. It was fuzzy and almost pink in color with a white band around its midsection. Curious myself, I decided to settle across the path from the mysteriously beautiful creature.
I set my basket down and pulled out the picnic blanket, shaking it open before placing it on the ground and securing it with the basket so it wouldnt drift away on the wind like flower petals.
Shoving my shoes off, I took my seat on the soft blanket and reached into the basket for something to eat. I had brought a turkey sandwhich, a bowl of fruit, some water, and a small piece of strawberry shortcake that my mother had made me-- my favorite. Pulling out one of the sandwhiches, I unwrapped it and munches away happily, still observing the sstunning creature still located on the horizon.
I wonder who they belong to... I had always loved horses, but never got to have one of my own due to financial instability when I was growing up. Maybe one day I'll ge a horse of my own, one just as beautiful as the one on the horizon.
Finishing my sandwhich, I balled the cellophane wrapping up and placed it bac into the basket so it wouldn't blow away and grabbed out the rest of my treats and water. I was so excited to eat the cake my mother had packed me. Unwrapping the dessert and fruit, I set about grazing between the two, oblivious to my surroundings.
After a few minutes I heart some soft rustling and padding coming from the direction of the dirt path. The horse, which I now realized was closer to pony sized, was walking towards me, its ears pricked in curiosity and delight, nose sniffing at the breeze. It must smell my dessert. I had heard preciously that some horses have quite the sweet tooth, so it would be no surprise if that was what this pony was after. Smiling excitedly, I held out a small piece of cake with a few berries as it approached me.
It gestured towards my hand with its muzzle cautiously before taking a final step forward and licking the treats out of my palm. I giggled at the ticklish sensation and reached out with my other hand for it to sniff me before trying to pet it.
The pony bent down a little futher, placing its forehead in my hand so I could scrat it. It's so cute and soft! Whoever owns them must be the luckiest person in the world! I exlaimed internally, a blush of happiness gracing my cheeks. If only I had a pony just like you...
