The Special Meeting
Chalotte wiggles in her seat excitedly. As she watches the scenery go by from the back of her dad’s truck, excited that she decided to look at her possible next horse. Iris has been an amazing mare, but she also thinks it would be a good choice ot get her a friend so that Iris doesn't have to always be with the goats.
“You excited, sweetheart?” Her father asks her, looking at her through the rearview mirror.
She nods excitedly,
“I am!” She says with a big, toothy smile.
As the truck rattles up the driveway, dust rises from the back tires, trailing the trailer. She is filled with so much excitement that she can barely contain herself. As the truck pulls up to the small red farmhouse, she watches excitedly for the lady who owns the ranch.
“Hi, darling,” She is greeted by a lovely southern redheaded woman who Charlie instantly recognizes as Stacy Bloomsfield.
“Hi Stacy!” Charlie runs into her arms in a big hug.
“Hi, kiddo,” Stacy replies. Charlie gives her a grin and says
“Can we see him?” Stacy nods and takes Charlie and her parents around to the round pen, where Stacy was going to show her a stallion that she thought would potentially be perfect for Iris. When Stacy arrives back, she has this very handsome bob-tailed dun stallion. Charlie looks at this handsome boy with wonder and says,
“Is that him?” Stacy nods and replies,
“This is Stein,” She smiles as she strokes his neck gently. Stein nickers to Stacy and swishes his little bob-tail.
Charlie holds a hand out, and Stein pushes his soft nose in her hand, and she giggles excitedly.
“He is so cute!” She exclaims with pure joy. She strokes his nose more, and he nickers again, and he leans into her touch.
“He seems to really like you,” Stacy remarks. Charlie grins and replies,
“I wonder how he moves and also how he would like Iris.” Stacy nods and says,
“Let's get him into the round pen and see how he moves.”
Charlie watches the stallions trot in circles for about 20 minutes, and she smiles. His gait is smooth and light, yet his temperament does not seem to be super flashy or even super wild.
“He's about 12, around the same age as your girl Iris,” Stacy remarks. Charlie smiles and calls his name softly,
“Stein, here boy,” She holds her hand out for him, leaning over the round pen so she can pet his soft, soft nose. He nickers to her and trots up excitedly. His ears twitching, and then there is a slight winnie from the back of Charlie’s trailer. Charlie looks towards her trailer and says,
“I did bring Iris here so that she could meet him. Is that okay?” Stacy nods, and Charlie walks to her trailer and unloads her current teddy cob, Iris.
Iris winnies to Stein as she gently prances to the round pen. He nicers in return, and their noses touch together gently. Iris takes in her scent, and Stein arches his neck and winnies to her again.
