🍏Double Double Toil & Trouble🌳
The black wooly gelding trotted quietly through the knee high grass. The sun once glowing and golden in the sky had began it's decent into the far away hills. Pinks, oranges, and reds streaked the sky. Some of the yellows even melted in with the autumn leaves. It was almost like the clouds, sky, and forest branches filled with leaves were one for a brief moment. Then it disappeared taking with it the light of day. A quiet leave, is always followed by a soft entrance that is only noticed by those paying attention. Now the hues of blue and purple of twilight and starlight had started to take hold of the sky. Stars twinkling into view in the velvet sky, and the moon rising in her full glory. Crickets and frogs voices and chirps rose up in the distance like a soft chorus of the forest. The wind solftly blew through the grass tickling the pony's nose, and causing ripples within the field. Like waves in the sea, the wind and grass danced together crashing against the pony's legs as he moved through it leaving behind a small trail perhaps for others like him to follow.
The coolness carried through out the forest, as warnings of the coming of Jack Frost and the far away oncoming winter seemed closer now than it had just a few months ago. He heeded no mind to the cold, his wooly coat kept him nice and cozy in times like these. Further he walked on, looking for a nice soft place to lay down and rest for the night. The little pony stepped out of the meadow of rolling grass waves and into a strange forest. Trees lined and pristinely cut into matching shapes, how ever strange it was something caught his eyes. Shiny apples of green, he sniffed one on a low branch and the sweet yet sour scent let him know it was perfectly ripe for eating. He happily pulled one from the trees, munching on it with a satisfying crunch-crunch. Once finished he licked his lips, and trotted over to another low branch and snatched two more, eating them with the same vigorous appetite. And so the gelding went on trotting through the grove and sampling the apple trees wares.
Until he found a soft patch of hay bales, he stopped and snorted. Humans had been here perhaps a day ago? Strange creatures, but he would admit they carried with them and grew the tastiest of snacks. He nudged one of the hay bales over and it fell breaking apart on the ground. He couldn't resist a few nibbles, before he began to paw and spread out the hay to make his bedding for the night. Then little gelding turned around circling his newly made bed. One, two, and three, the perfect rounds before he laid down in the soft golden hay. He yawned tiredly, and briefly looked up at the sky. The moon and stars peered down at him through the branches of the apple orchard, almost lulling him to sleep with their calm light. He would sleep tonight full, content, and happy. And tomorrow there would always be a new adventure to look forward to.
