Highwayyyy to helllll🎶
Griffin moved with light footwork as he and his owner, Georgia, traversed through the mountains of Hungary. It was Teddy claiming season again and thus Georgia had set out to see if she could string up a bell in one of the pony's manes. The bay splash she now rode had been a gift of her parents’. A pony that was intelligent and hardworking. She'd trained him in the western disciplines so she could do exactly this, ride in the nature of the country she'd come to see as her home.
His training now came to use. Georgia and Griffin had set out to the mountains this morning. In a week the Teddy Cobs from all herds would be herded to the stables again. This week everyone was allowed to go into the habitat areas of the ponies and try to braid a bell ribbon in their manes. The ones who still had the ribbon in their manes when they arrived back to the stables had found their new owner. Georgia had decided she was ready to try and claim another Teddy of her own. Her little sister would love to be able to ride Griffin while she went to form a bond with the, potential, new pony.
As said she and her gelding had ridden to, and through, nature for some time already. They'd seen lots of nature. Most of all trees and grass. They'd seen some shapes in the distance but before they'd gotten there they were gone. Now, however, it seemed there was a herd close by. In her somewhat younger years she'd helped a forestranger, those skills also were of use now. The hoofprints in the mud were quite recent and it looked like they were off to the plains. A quick look at the sky told her she and the gelding needed to be quick about it. Else they'd be caught in at least a drizzle.
She clicked and Griffin set off to a trot. The ground splashing a bit below his hooves. A little half of an hour later she saw the silhouettes of around a dozen fuzzy ponies. Finally.
Georgia slowed Griffin down to a walk, she herself jumping off his back. She wanted a curious pony, not one too shy. So she'd wait and see which one would be brave enough to come closer to her and Griffin. A fallen tree was the perfect place to sit down and wait while the bay splash would enjoy the grass. Which he did with happy chomps. It brought an amused smile to Georgia's face as she smoothed out some of her black hair.
In the meanwhile a black stallion was looking at her from a distance. Ears perked forward at the sight. He'd seen humans before, of course he had. Tho, one with a Teddy Cob was a bit more unusual. Most came to the area to take a walk in nature and left the pony population alone. A few minutes of observing later he decided to walk closer. And closer, and closer until he heard the woman hum a song. He tilted his head lightly, listening to make out what song it was. The humming however stopped before he knew, as if he'd ‘know’ he was a pony, not a music artist. The woman outstretched a hand.
“You like my humming?” She spoke, even her voice melodic.
Slowly Georgia stood up. Maybe she could braid a bell ribbon in the manes of this black pony. He looked like a brave and intelligent steed. Exactly what she was looking for. With nimble and quick movements she'd tied the ribbon in his forelock, for his manes were too short to do so. The pony just turned his head towards her as if silently asking what that was for. He didn't walk away as she sat down again. Griffin looked up, inspected the dark pony and then went to more important matters again. More chomps of grass filling the silence.
