Starboyyy
It was years ago when a colt was born under a bright shining star. One with a light coat and golden eyes. The other ponies from the Teddy Cob herd looked at the foal with curiosity in their gazes. They'd never seen a coat like that in the Hungarian herds. What a strange colour he had, like the cremellos they'd seen before, but different.
It was a sweet foal nonetheless. Very playful albeit sometimes a bit too adventurous. The older mares, along with his mother, hoped those tendencies would die down later. And, as with all horses with light coats, this colt managed to get dirt on his body often enough.
Years later that some colt was a stallion now. Always a curious gaze in those golden eyes. He was welcomed in all herds, though, a bit of a loner. Preferring to wander around the mountains instead of staying in the field all day. Because of that he'd never seen much two legged creatures, humans, his mother had called them. It was tradition for them to go to the Teddy Cob herds every year and try to braid a bell ribbon in their manes. He hadn't been warned against it, the ‘captured’ cobs always said the two legged creatures were friendly. So he could only be curious when on one day a person with hair as light as his coat walked into the clearing he stood in. Observing him for a while as he did exactly the same. She looked friendly enough. Staying on a respectable distance, as did he. His curiosity won over, as usual. Taking a few steps closer to look at the interesting creature. She, in turn, outstretched a hand. One that smelled interesting. Apparently the young woman saw him sniff at her hand, she smiled in return.
“That's peppermint,” she said. What was peppermint? The stallion had absolutely no clue. The woman slowly stood up. Likely not to scare him, which was unnecessary, he was rarely scared of anything. He turned his head and neck to look at her as she approached his backside. Very, very carefully. He almost bristled. She must have a low opinion of horses, to be scared of him like that. Or maybe she was just careful, as his mother had always said he should be. This human should teach him some things about that. She reached out to his tail, slowly as not to scare him. He watched as she tied something red in the hair. It made a funny jingling sound as he swished his tail. The human looked and stifled a laugh. Was he that funny? Certainly not. He turned, ears forward as the woman extended her hand again. Something round and white laid in it. With a careful notion he picked it up with his lips. It tasted good. A little strange, but good. The human laughed again, her almost white hair moving with the sound.
“And thát is peppermint.”
