Baking errand
You pass trough a small town. It lies in a valley and is partly surrounded by mid height mountains. Their very tops are alpine, but lush trees and pastures adorn their sides.
It is quaint. You stop by a local bakery and take a seat inside, where it smells of baked goods and the baker quickly serves your order.
You take a few bites and lazily look out the large front window. Its midday, most inhabitants seem to be having lunch or are resting.
But movement catches your eye. Something goes by just beneath the window, it must be rather small as all you can see is a bit of hair and two round, grey, small ears.
The door opens automatically and in pops a little graying pony, its hooves plod on the parquett? floor. You heard some people in the area kept horses, its no surprise a pony or two would be found. But why is it walking into a bakery? And with leather bags strapped to its back too.
The baker gives it a friendly greeting, apparently this is considered normal here. Kuro is the ponys name, who nickers in response.
This is followed by the baker walking over and rummaging trough the bags, where she finds a small note and some reusable paper to package bread in.
"Kuro here runs some errands for his owners. Its incredible, how clever he is." The baker chatters "My nephew has one of those ponies too, but that one doesnt know half as much. Shes a real sweethart though. They all are."
She goes to pick out a number of things, bread, some sweets and fried pastries too. A small apple from a basket of supplies finds its way among them, only to be fed to Kuro once the baker puts the baked goods into leather bags.
"Do you want to feed him something too?" The baker questions, already on her way to grab another apple. Of course you do. She breaks the apple in half and gives you one. Kuro watches with rapt attention, his little round ears twitch. He is adorable. And very happy once hes given both apple halves.
With all bags packed, the baker says "Gooybye now. Kuro, go home".
And Kuro tilts his head, it takes just a short moment before he turns and leaves the way he came. Outside, he falls into a trot and scurries towards the mountains. Right back home.
